Chilli Con Carne

This dish was one of the first recipes I learnt to cook growing up. It is so easy and simple to remember! You can never go wrong with a chilli con carne and of course you can adjust the spiciness to your liking.


Serves 2-4

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cooking time 1 hr

Total time 1hr 10m

Ingredients

  • 500g 5% mince

  • 1 can of chopped tomatoes

  • 1 can of red kidney beans

  • 2 beef oxo cubes, 300ml water

  • 1 onion

  • 2 garlic cloves

  • 1 tsp chilli power

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • Salt and pepper

  1. Heat a pan and once it is hot add in your oil.

  2. Fry your mince, finely chopped onion and finely chopped garlic.

  3. Once the beef is cooked, add in the can of tomatoes and beef stock.

  4. Season with chilli powder, cumin, oregano.

  5. Give everything a good stir and then season with salt and pepper

  6. Simmer 45 minutes

  7. Drain the kidney beans and add it into the sauce. Simmer for another 15 minutes

  8. Serve with rice and enjoy!
