A sweet marinade for your tofu which is perfectly paired with sticky rice and a side salad. Tofu can be rather bland so marinades are a perfect way to add some flavour!
Serves 3
Prep time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
Ingredients
280g tofu
1 tbsp oil
1 cup rice, 2 1/2 cups water
80g side salad
1 tsp sesame seeds
For the marinade
200ml orange juice
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp chilli falkes
For the marinade you simply need to combine all of the ingredients together and set aside.
If you don't have firm tofu. Simply drain the tofu, take 2 pieces of kitchen roll, lay one underneath and the other over the tofu and place a heavy book on top for around 10 mins max. (These helps squeeze the excess water out)
Once you have pressed you tofu, cut it into small pieces, place into a bowl and pour your marinade over it.
Set aside for at 30 minutes. Meanwhile heat up a pan and once it is hot, add in your oil.
Prepare a pan of boiling water for the rice (1 cup, 2 1/2 cups water). Once boiled allow to simmer, stirring occasionally so the rice doesn't stick to the pan. Once all of the water is absorbed, your rice will be ready.
Pour the tofu into the pan with marinade and cook until the tofu turns golden and the sauce has thickened.
Serve with rice, salad and sprinkle the sesame seeds over the top of the tofu.
