Soft, Fluffy Scones

A delicious dessert to have with a cup of tea. An amazing treat for the family and they are irresistible once they come out of the oven.
Serves 6
Prep time:10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Total time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
225g self raising flour
55g butter
25 caster sugar
150ml milk
1 egg
1/4 tsp salt
Heat your oven to 200C fan
In a bowl combine the flour, salt and butter. Make sure you rub the butter in.
Add in the sugar and milk. This should form a soft dough.
Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll out the dough until it is 2cm in thickness.
Use a 5cm cutter to form the scones. Repeat the process until all of the dough is used up.
Brush the top of the scones with an egg that you beaten so they turn nice and golden whilst they are cooking
Place on a tray with parchment paper and cook for 15 minutes until the scones have risen and are golden
Serve with clotted cream and strawberry jam!
